30 Day Challenge

30 Day Challenge – Day 25

So I am apparently two days behind in my posts. It has been a bit of a crazy weekend for me and this week is quite full as well. Two senior project final presentations has me in meetings all week. Anyways, we are talking about Saturday.

Georgia and I purchased tickets several months ago to go see Cinderella on Broadway in New Orleans for Saturday. It just so happened that this past weekend was also French Quarter Fest in NOLA as well. As such, the whole city, specifically the French Quarter, was swarming with people – well, more than it is normally swarming with people on a random Saturday. It was Georgia’s first time visiting anywhere in South Louisiana including NOLA so we decided to go down earlier than we had to for the play. We chose to just kinda wander around, eat some really good food, drink some popular drinks, and just have a nice day.

Apparently I forgot to take a picture of my dinner and any of the bands playing so here is a lovely photo of the French Quarter Festival sign.

After dinner, we headed to the theater and, after calling our third roommate to have her pull our dogs inside – we had tornado warnings and awful weather in Tuscaloosa – we got to watch Cinderella. It was so, so good. I really have no clue how they made Cinderella’s dress transform as beautifully and magically as they did. It was incredibly impressive. The musical is a slightly different story than the Disney movie but not in a bad way. It was just different.

The theater we were in is the Saenger Theater in New Orleans and it was quite beautiful as well. Georgia wouldn’t take a picture of me in front of the sign before we went in to the theater and then it was raining when we left so I didn’t get a picture in front of the sign.

Please ignore the tree in front of the sign. It was really windy and the tree would not cooperate.

It absolutely poured cats, dogs, the kitchen sink, and every single kitchen appliance as we were leaving NOLA so the 4 hour drive back home was almost 6 hours but it was so worth it. We had a great day, saw a wonderful performance, and just had an all around enjoyable time. And we even got our daily run in for the day before we hit the road in the morning! What a success!
