30 Day Challenge - Day 26

I think I am caught up on posts now. Yay! Let's see if I can stay on the ball for the next four days. Okay, so if you read Day 25 , you know that Georgia and I went to New Orleans on Saturday and had a 6 hour drive home. If you didn't read Day 25 , you should go read it - we had a lot of fun! Anyways, that 6 hour drive put us home somewhere between 4 and 4:30 am on Sunday. It was exhausting. Both of us slept through our alarms, missed church and woke up somewhere around noon (I think Georgia might have woken up before me but I drove most of the way so I was really wiped). The rest of the afternoon was spent doing housework and running errands. Since Youth got canceled, we took our time out and about and both of us purchased some new athletic gear. I realized, after pulling my athletic shorts out the other day to run, that I haven't purchased new shorts since high school and the ones I own have gotten a bit tight, quite short, and less comfortable. So, along with groceries and some of the personal products we needed, like shampoo - I have been out for like 5 days and I can't go any longer without washing my hair. It is so gross - we also got athletic gear and dog food - Faith eats a lot for being so lean. When we got home, Georgia taught me how to make stir-fry and homemade egg-rolls (minus the egg part so I don't know what that actually makes them). It was so exciting!! A couple of my egg rolls exploded in the oils as we were frying them so we lost like 3 but most of them held. I was (still am honestly) so proud of myself! And it was really good. If you haven't had homemade egg rolls, not a big deal but you need to try to make them and eat them ASAP. Game changers man. Great snack they just take a while to prepare. Yum. Look at those beautiful, golden, homemade creations. Doesn't dinner just look fabulous? And I ate the whole thing with my fingers or the chopsticks! Note: Please ignore the ketchup container in the background. It just lives on our table. If you put it away, it is back within a day. I blame the gremlins. Okay, now that I am all caught up on my 30 day challenge posts, I am going to sign off and head to bed. Wait no, scratch that, I am going to wash my hair and then go to bed. I have had far too many late nights this weekend to keep staying up past midnight. 30 Day Challenge - Day 25

So I am apparently two days behind in my posts. It has been a bit of a crazy weekend for me and this week is quite full as well. Two senior project final presentations has me in meetings all week. Anyways, we are talking about Saturday. Georgia and I purchased tickets several months ago to go see Cinderella on Broadway in New Orleans for Saturday. It just so happened that this past weekend was also French Quarter Fest in NOLA as well. As such, the whole city, specifically the French Quarter, was swarming with people - well, more than it is normally swarming with people on a random Saturday. It was Georgia's first time visiting anywhere in South Louisiana including NOLA so we decided to go down earlier than we had to for the play. We chose to just kinda wander around, eat some really good food, drink some popular drinks, and just have a nice day. Apparently I forgot to take a picture of my dinner and any of the bands playing so here is a lovely photo of the French Quarter Festival sign. After dinner, we headed to the theater and, after calling our third roommate to have her pull our dogs inside - we had tornado warnings and awful weather in Tuscaloosa - we got to watch Cinderella. It was so, so good. I really have no clue how they made Cinderella's dress transform as beautifully and magically as they did. It was incredibly impressive. The musical is a slightly different story than the Disney movie but not in a bad way. It was just different. The theater we were in is the Saenger Theater in New Orleans and it was quite beautiful as well. Georgia wouldn't take a picture of me in front of the sign before we went in to the theater and then it was raining when we left so I didn't get a picture in front of the sign. Please ignore the tree in front of the sign. It was really windy and the tree would not cooperate. It absolutely poured cats, dogs, the kitchen sink, and every single kitchen appliance as we were leaving NOLA so the 4 hour drive back home was almost 6 hours but it was so worth it. We had a great day, saw a wonderful performance, and just had an all around enjoyable time. And we even got our daily run in for the day before we hit the road in the morning! What a success!

30 Day Challenge - Day 22

It's day 22 of my challenge and I have 22 days left till I graduate. How cool is that?!? Yesterday I went running and I didn't complain AT ALL. I don't think you understand how awesome that is. If I am not a huge fan of something, I tend to complain so not complaining about running which is not currently my favorite thing ever - might be when we are done but isn't currently - is huge for me. Since this is super late, it is going to be a short post. Y'all have a great night!

30 Day Challenge - Day 21

Good morning y'all! I went climbing yesterday and I think I fell more times in the two hours we were at the gym yesterday than the entire time I have been climbing. Not because I was worse yesterday than before but because, 1. I was climbing routes that were actually difficult rather than routes I knew I could do and 2. I am working on my fear of falling. By no means am I jumping out of an airplane to freefall back to earth any time soon but, I can let go of a wall 10 feet in the air and land without thinking I am going to crumble and die. I am praising my small victories. Last night, several of the campus ministries put on a worship night. I was honestly a bit nervous to go because Georgia had a bunch of homework so she didn't come and I wasn't positive I would know anyone. Having to go to an event by myself where people I don't know might try to start a legit conversation with me was not really something I was excited about. But, I was excited to participate in a worship night. I hadn't been to one in a few semesters unfortunately. It did not disappoint. The speaker was great and the band's excitement made the experience 10x better than it would have been otherwise. I'm glad that I decided to go. Just so it is noted, I pulled that photo off Instagram. It isn't mine. I am off to work now so y'all have a super awesome Wednesday and we can chat tomorrow!

30 Day Challenge - Day 20

Yesterday, I went for a run. And by run I mean I was all but running in place moving very slowly. I could have walked faster than I was running. I'm not kidding. I tried to walk instead and Georgia kept saying "Nope. No stopping. No walking. Come on, let's go Lyss." Let me just tell you, it felt completely useless. I have read the articles from experts on how running is better for you than walking, even running slowly. And how you need to train slow to learn how to run right. And how there is a technique to running (a concept that is just weird to me - if my body was designed to outrun a lion when I am being chased, why is my running not efficient already?). I still felt like it was a useless exercise. But let me just tell you, my leg and glute muscles are seriously sore this morning so apparently this slow running thing has some merit. :) Aren't my new running shoes pretty? I arranged them all nice and neat to take a picture and then the dog came up and knocked them over as I was taking the picture which is why it is a bit lopsided. Speaking of the dogs, wanna see some photos? (Of course you do, why did I even ask such a silly question?) Faith being cute and eating her toy. Sunny looking at me like I am crazy for throwing her toy on the couch next to her. The dogs were really snuggly this morning which is great except I am in black pants, have lint rolled them twice, and I still have dog hair EVERYWHERE. Oh well, this is the price I pay for having cute fluffy creatures in the house. Have a great Tuesday! I hope it is drier for you wherever you are then it is here in Tuscaloosa today!
